The City Council approved a three-year lease for a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria from Auto Additions in Salem at its regular meeting on Feb. 22.
The city will pay $10,62.25 for the new patrol car out of its current budget. The total paid over three years will be $31,889.25.
The Police Department returned to the Crown Victoria last year when it leased two new patrol cars last year to replace older vehicles in the fleet.
The department had been using Chevrolet Impalas, but quit using them because the interiors were reconfigured, interfering with installation of equipment. Likewise, the Crown Victoria will be discontinued this year, and the department will need to find a new model to be used as patrol vehicles.
In other business, the council adopted a resolution that updates classification of fund types and financial policies to comply with new Governmental Accounting Standards Board requirements.
Present at the meeting were councilors Marybeth Angulo, Jim Gourley, Greg Mahler and Mayor Craig Fentiman. Scott McKee Jr., Laurie Osborne and Ron Rodgers were absent.
