Clarene E. Myers
July 16, 1938 – December 17, 2023
On Sunday December 17, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family, Clarene Elma (Kropf) Myers passed on to join her Savior in heaven. Clarene was born to D. Merle Kropf and Ruth (Baker) Kropf on July 16, 1938 in Harrisburg, the second of five children. The family would later be joined by stepmother Bertha Kropf and her two children.
Clarene’s early years were spent in Oregon and California. While attending Western Mennonite High School in Salem, where she was affectionately called “Renie” by her friends – she quickly rose to the top of her class. One day while working in the school office, a handsome red headed young man came by, and caught her fancy at once.On April 11, 1958 she became Mrs. Ralph Emerson Myers, Jr. Throughout their 65+ years of marriage they raised six children, welcomed 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Clarene and Ralph resided in Sweet Home for nearly all their married life, aside from several years in Grants Pass, and attending college in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Clarene joyfully served everyone around her including her church, co-workers, family, friends and neighbors. She is fondly remembered for her participation in the Sweet Home Singing Christmas Tree, her work at Lebanon Community Hospital billing department, and finally at Thriftway grocery in Sweet Home.
In 2021, Clarene and Ralph moved to Waverly Place Assisted Living Community in Albany, Oregon. She kept two pet songbirds, enjoyed making friends, singing in the Glee Club, and a Hymn Sing every Sunday afternoon. Together they continued to minister to their new community. Clarene chose to live a life characterized by a kind and cheery disposition, ready smile, and by generosity. Quick to share the joy of her salvation in Jesus Christ, she daily lifted others up in prayer and would lend a hand without fail.
Clarene is survived by her devoted husband, Ralph; daughter, Renita and son-in-law Yosef Cohen of Sweet Home, daughter, Jan and son-in-law Fernando De Guzman of Richmond, BC Canada; son, Gary Myers of Manila, Philippines; daughter, Tina and son-in-law Mark Hill of Vancouver, Washington; daughter, Karmin and son-in-law Kirk Greber of Tonopah, Nevada; daughter, Gwen and son-in-law Cory Peters of Lebanon.
