Clark Roy Hay
March 22, 1958 – June 26, 2024
Clark Roy Hay, 66, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his home in Prineville, after a hard-fought battle with an aggressive form of kidney cancer.
Clark was born March 22, 1958, in Massena, NY to John Neil Hay, Sr. and LaVern Frances (Daniels) Hay. He was the fourth born of their six children. The family lived in several states before settling in Sweet Home in 1965.
Clark graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1977. While in school he was a member of the swim team.
After high school, he worked a couple of jobs before starting his long career at Willamette Industries, which later became Weyerhaeuser. While there, he worked in a variety of leadership positions. When he retired in 2017, he was the Operations Manager at the mill in Foster.
Clark married Angela “Angie” Houck on May 20, 2010, at Moloa’a Bay on the island of Kauai, a special place in their hearts. The two enjoyed traveling together. Some of their favorite adventures were when they would go see Dave Matthews Band at The Gorge Amphitheatre, which they did many times.
Whether it was deer, elk, geese, or fish, it seemed as though Clark was always on a “hunt.” He loved the outdoors and spent much time driving around our woods. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them at the several gatherings planned throughout the year. He was an extremely hard worker, could build anything, and was always willing to lend his talents to help a friend or family member; qualities he passed down to his two sons, Chris and Tyler, who he was very proud of.
Clark is survived by his wife Angie of Prineville; son Christopher (Carol) Hay of Sweet Home, son Tyler (Ami) Hay of White Fish, MT; brothers Jerry (Bev) Hay, Jim (Lori) Hay, sister Danielle (Steven) Hanscam, all of Sweet Home, brother Scott (Gretchen) Hay of Mt. Angel, sister-in-law Kathy Hay of Sweet Home; six grandchildren Carter, Cameron, Aubrie, Zoey, Emalee, and Kenny; as well as nieces and nephews. Clark was a wonderful stepfather and was dearly loved by his bonus children Jessica (Brent) Putney, Ronald Houck, and Mikaela (Steven) Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Neil Hay Jr., and his nephew Casey Hanscam.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 10, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 600 6th Ave. in Sweet Home. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Clark’s ashes will be interred immediately after the church service at Gilliland Cemetery near his parents. Lastly, a luncheon will be provided upon return to the church.
