Cletus E. “Joe” Ray, 85, of Brownsville, died Dec. 14, 2007
He was born July 18, 1922 in Lebanon to Victor E. and Georgann (Clem) Ray.
Mr. Ray was an Army paratrooper and served in World War II. He married Helen Fields on Sept. 4, 1950 in Reno, Nev. They resided in Crawfordsville most of their 57 years of marriage.
He was a retired supervisor for the Linn County Road Department in Sweet Home.
Mr. Ray loved to hunt, fish, garden and to go camping with his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife Helen of Crawfordsville; daughters Catherine Haney and husband Lyle of Sweet Home and Jan Lowen and husband Vince of Lebanon; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A private burial will be at Crawfordsville Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
