Khloe Sautel placed ninth in the 50 Freestyle (27.43), third in the 500 Freestyle (5:34.07), eighth in the 50 Breaststroke (35.82), second in the 200 Freestyle (2:03.88), seventh in the 100 Breaststroke (1:17.97) and set a new SHSC 11-12 age record in the 100 Freestyle (57.43).
Rodriquez placed 13th in the 50 Butterfly (31.27) and did two time trials, qualifying in the 50 Freestyle (27.93) and the 50 Backstroke (31.11). Kirsten Sautel placed sixth in the 50 Freestyle (25.91), seventh in the 200 Breaststroke (2:37.40), eighth in the 200 Freestyle (2:02.76), seventh in the 100 Breaststroke (1:11.93), and fourth in the 100 Freestyle (55.53).
In the second photo, from left, Khloe Sautel, Chloe Tyler, Malia (Josie) Hewitt, Kirsten Sautel and Ronald (RJ) Abbott competed in the 2022 OSI Senior Region XII Area Short Course Championships at Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center on March 4-6.
Highlights of the meet: Tyler made a futures cut and a SHSC record in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:04.51.
Hewitt placed second overall in the 200 Breaststroke (2:19.18), setting herself up for a better futures cut.
Abbott dropped time in five of his six events and had an “incredible meet,” Coach Kelly Sautel said.
This was Kirsten and Khloe Sautel “swam well” in their debut at this higher level meet, the coach said.
