Coach: Girls hoops showing ‘tremendous improvement’

The high school girls summer basketball team had last week off after spending the previous week at team camp at Oregon State University.

This week, the girls are leading a camp for third through eighth graders, Monday through Thursday at Sweet Home High School.

Coach Robby Robertson took six girls from junior varsity to the OSU camp. The included Kendell Anderson, Jordan Miller, Jade Corliss, Sequoia Stroup, Harlee Brendle and Nicole Bell.

At the beginning of the tournament, a California team beat themby 40 points, Robertson said. They had a rematch at the end of the week, and the Huskies only lost by three.

“Tremendous improvement,” Robertson said. The Huskies finished second as a team in competition drills, beating out Redmond. They finished behind Mark Morris High School, a 6A school from Washington. On the court, the team finished 3-7.

“We’re learning how to compete,” Robertson said. “We’re excited about it.”
