Cobras take home fourth-place state basketball trophy

 

Central Linn’s girls display the fourth-place trophy they won at the 2A state basketball championship March 8 in Pendleton. The Cobras beat East Linn Christian 45-31 to take fourth after beating Clatskanie 65-45 in the first round, then, in Pendleton, losing 45-39 to eventual second-place finisher Western Christian before downing Stanfield 46-47 to advance to the fourth-place game. Central Linn finished 21-7 overall, 18-6  in the Valley Coast Conference. In the game against East Linn, junior Peyton Gaskey led the team with 19 points and she and fellow junior Addie Wolff finished the tournament averaging 13 points per game. Gaskey was also 8-17 from three-point range. Sophomore Chloe Kallai was the second-highest rebounder in the tournament, finishing with 24 in three games. Gaskey and Wolff were both named to the All-Tournament second team, and both were named Player of the Game during the tournament.
