The Sweet Home Community Foundation has awarded five grants worth $3,098 during its 2013 cycle, announcing them on April 1.
The foundation provides funding to a wide variety of projects and activities that provide lasting improvements to the Sweet Home community.
Grants are given in several categories, including children and families, education, livability and arts and culture. Funding is primarily through the generous donations of those who live and work in the East Linn County area.
While grants were generally limited to $500 this year, two projects were given enhanced funding through the generosity of the Alice Blazer Memorial Endowment Fund, which is maintained by SHCF.
Alice Blazer taught in the Sweet Home School District from 1957 until 1965. In 2012 her husband provided a significant financial gift to the permanent endowment fund of the SHCF.
The following are the 2013 grant winners;
n Sweet Home Pregnancy Care Center, $348.00 for baby car seats.
