The Sweet Home Community Foundation announced last week that it plans to expand its Board of Directors to better serve the community and is seeking applicants.
The Foundation was created in 1997 by the Sweet Home Economic Development Group to serve as a vehicle for returning a percentage of the profits from the Oregon Jamboree back into the community by helping fund worth while projects, foundation President Bob Burford said.
The overall goal is to grow the SHCF endowment through the yearly donations from the Sweet Home Economic Development Group, private individuals, and businesses to be a major force in providing grants far into the future.
The SHCF Mission Statement is “to improve the quality of life within the Sweet Home Community” by providing monetary and technical assistance to local organizations and groups.
This year SHCF distributed grants of more than $18,000 to various Sweet Home community projects and deposited an additional $25,000 into the a long-term community endowment. This endowment is meant to provide future community assistance as may be needed.
If you are a member of the Sweet Home community and have a desire to serve the community via this foundation, please Burford, at 367-5181 or speak to any of our current board members.
