Community Health Improvement Partnership plans public event

Community Health Improvement Partnership

invites public to “Say AAAAAH” about health care

The Community Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP) invites East Linn residents to a public meeting of a different kind when it hosts a special area-wide health care participation meeting next week.

The meeting, entitled, “Say aaahh! Diagnosing Community Health Care Needs”, is being sponsored by the East Linn Community Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP) and will be facilitated by its Partners. This meeting will help all of those organizations and people involved with health care to understand what area residents think about local health care and what they expect in terms of quality and services.

The event is one part of a larger community health assessment being conducted by the Community Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP). The meeting will be held on Monday, February 23, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Lebanon High School Commons area. All area residents are invited to attend.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

The purpose of the meeting is to get area residents to work together in one session to generate a list of changes or activities which would make East Linn County a healthier place to live.

“It will be a different kind of public meeting than you have ever attended before. It’s actually lots of fun,” said Becki Knobloch, CHIP Coordinator. “We’ll use a unique, enjoyable process. Everyone who attends gets to share their opinions without having to actually stand up and speak to the entire audience.”

This type of meeting has been held in many other communities both in Oregon and throughout the nation and has been proven to really make a difference, according to Duane Miller, Lebanon’s Assistant Fire Chief and Chairperson of CHIP.

“How involved residents become in local health care issues and how supportive they are of local health care services will ultimately shape the future of local health care services in terms of what type of services, if any, should be provided here,” he said. “Residents need to come forward now to express what they think about local health care, and this meeting provides an excellent opportunity to voice your concerns. In addition, these meetings are generally a lot of fun for the participants.”
