The journey to a healthy lifestyle is one filled with learnings.
There is a lot to know about what is good for our bodies and what we should avoid.
Losing and keeping off excess body fat is one of the most important things you can do for your health. By doing so, you will greatly reduce your chances of a wide range of health issues from joint problems to heart disease.
Success comes when you do your research and then take steps toward implementing positive lifestyle changes.
Trial and error always come into play as you learn what works and does not work for you and your body. In essence, you are conducting experiments on doing research on yourself. The reassuring part is that there are plenty of studies and methods available that have proven results. The difficult part is that our own bodies react differently than others which is where we have to rely on trial, error and patience.
As with any good research, you need to take good notes. You’ve heard us talk a lot about keeping a journal of what you do and how your body responds over time. Our serious contestants are becoming very good at keeping these records and if you are serious about your weight loss goals, you should be doing the same.
For our Week Five weigh-in we had J.S. as our top male weight-loss contestant with 2.4 percent and Becky Huenergardt was the top female, also with 2.4 percent loss for the week.
We provided everyone with a food index with examples of macronutrient sources and held another Q&A session.
If you remember, macronutrients are the proteins, fats and carbohydrates our bodies need to carry out normal biological functions. We also provided a healthy protein source list. You can find this on our facebook page at SHLoseforLife along with other helpful tips, recipes, etc.
Next week our contest takes a break with the holiday weekend. Weigh-in is not necessary, but contestants can weigh in on Tuesday if they wish. The following week we will hold an exercise class for those who wish to participate.
Others can simply observe and learn. We will show practical exercises you can do at home to help burn calories, strengthen muscles and improve your cardiovascular health.
Happy losing and have a great holiday weekend!
