Cops arrest one suspect in tire store break-in

Sweet Home police have arrested one suspect and are seeking another in the burglary of Les Schwab Tire Center on April 14.

Kaylie Gaylord, 21, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree theft, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn.

Police responded at 6:30 a.m. after the discovery of the unlawful use of a vehicle, Lynn said. A Sweet Home Sanitation truck had been parked there.

Someone entered the vehicle and moved it to the back side of the building and then forced entry into the building using a tool from the truck, Lynn said. A large set of antlers were taken and items damaged.

During the investigation, police recovered the antlers, Lynn said.

Police are seeking a male suspect, Lynn said, but they were holding off identifying him early this week.

“It was a community effort really to assist in the solving of this crime,” Lynn said, although he added that he could not go into detail about it yet.
