Sweet Home Police are investigating two counterfeit $20 bills received by the Shell station, 1306 Main St. at 9:34 p.m. on Jan. 27.
A driver pulled up and asked for $40 in fuel, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn. The driver handed the attendant two $20 bills.
The attendant noticed the bills didn’t feel right and called the police. The driver had already left.
Police seized the counterfeit bills as evidence, Lynn said, and they received a detailed description of the vehicle, a green Honda, involved along with the female driver.
The quality of the counterfeit bills was not very good, Lynn said.
Police are actively working leads in the investigation, he said.
