Corrections (Oct. 27, 2021)

A story in the Oct. 20 issue about the City Council’s consideration of an ADA ramp project in the area of Main Street and Highway 228 should have stated that the council heard a presentation on Oct. 12 from an Oregon Department of Transportation representative, but has yet to vote on the project.

Also, the story should have stated that two crossings of Highway 20 are planned near 40th and 49th avenues, which will be mid-block RRFBs (rapid rectangular flashing beacons). Tree clearing for the project will occur this fall and spring.

According to ODOT, surveyors will be out to mark clearing limits in the next few weeks once a contractor has been confirmed. The tree clearing work is being done before a bid is awarded on the project, since there are environmental restrictions that will not allow for clearing in time for the construction contractor to begin their work, according to ODOT Project Manager Christine D. Hildebrant.
