Council backs liquor licenses

The Sweet Home City Council recommended to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission new liquor licenses for the Waterhole Tavern and Sam City during its regular meeting on July 27.

Theresea Brown, doing business as U-N-Me Corporation, is requesting a new liquor license to operate the Waterhole Tavern in Foster, 6099 Main St. The license request includes beer and wine sold at the table for on-premises consumption and for carry out.

Koon Ja Kim (Sam) has purchased Sam City from her husband Kyung Man Kim (Christian) and is applying for a liquor license to operate Sam City Teriyaki Restaurant, 2435 Main St.

The license request is a change of ownership for an existing limited on-premises sales and liquor license.

In other business, the council approved ordinances adopting a technical study, “The Flood Insurance Study for Linn County, Oregon and Incorporated Areas” for the city of Sweet Home as part of the city’s Comprehensive Plan. The ordinance also added natural resources policies to Chapter Three of the plan.

A second ordinance amended flood hazard area regulations.

Councilors present at the meeting were Mayor Craig Fentiman, Jim Gourley, Greg Mahler, Eric Markell and Scott McKee Jr.

Laurie Osborne, formerly Laure Fowler, and Ron Rodgers were absent.
