Sweet Home Charter School students Jazmine Jordan, left, and Ethan Parrish, right, were among the winners in the annual Linn County Spelling Contest held May 24 at Calapooia Middle School in Albany. The Sweet Home students competed in Division I, which includes grades 1 through 5. Jazmine won first place and Ethan third, with Brynna Gritter Kennek of North Albany Elementary School, center, second. The competition included students from Albany, Lebanon and Sweet Home, who competed in middle school and high school divisions as well. Each first-place winner in Linn County will be invited to participate in the annual statewide spelling contest to be held Sept. 2 during the Oregon State Fair at the Oregon State Fairgrounds.
