Couple marry in backyard ceremony

Amy Cheek and Matt Swanson were wed July 22, 2000 in Sweet Home.

The bride is the daughter of Cindy and Ken Cheek of Sweet Home. The groom is the son of Bill and Claudia Swanson of Sherwood.

Pastor Mark McCartin of the Community Chapel performed the ceremony at the bride’s family’s home at 27230 Rowell Hill Road.

Maids of honors were Carissa Niemi and Krysie Tack, both friends of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Autumn Hufford, Lesli Niemi and Amanda Vannice, all friends of the bride.

Best man was Scott Swanson, the groom’s brother.

Groomsmen were Dave Kangas, Dan Jones and Jason Ogden, all friends of the groom and Aaron Cheek, the bride’s brother.

Usher was Adam Cheek, the bride’s brother.

Flower girls were Anne Gilleland and Mary Gilleland, the bride’s cousins and Taylor and Natalie Thorpe, friends of the bride.

Ring bearer was Brock Moffet, a friend of the bride and groom.

Pianist was George Virtue and solist was Bridget Woodard. Music included “Cannon in D”, the “Bridal March” and “Grow Old With Me.”

The couple are making their home in Wilsonville.

The groom is a deputy with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

The bride graduates in June with a degree in exercise and sports science from Oregon State University. She will enter the masters program for teaching later in June.
