Kim Bishop of Hillsboro and John Nelson of Milwaukie were marred on Aug. 26 at Lakeside Gardens in a double ring ceremony by evening candlelight.
Mrs. Nelson is the daughter of Bugs Bishop of Coos Bay and Patty Bishop of Albany. She is a 1985 graduate of Sweet Home High School. and a 1999 graduate of Capella university with an MS in organizational management. She is employed as the vice president of sales with DNK, Inc., LLC, and owns the company.
Mr. Nelson is the son of Tom and Linda Nelson of Milwaukie. He is a 1990 graduate of Milwaukie High School and is studying business at Portland Community College. He is employed as a purchasing agent at Logic General of Portland.
Gary Conkey, a non-denominational minister from Portland, officiated.
Maid of honor was Jody Gannon of Estacada. Bridesmaids included Renee Davis of Beaverton; Kristin Slocum of Beaverton; Dondi Rolf of Vancouver, Wash.; Susan Kuhn of Topeka, Kan.; Veronica Kirchhofer of Dallas, Texas; and Melissa Graves of Great Falls, Mont.
Groomsmen included Ron Weeks of Portland; Charlie Roberts of Portland; Aaron Wright of Portland; Jason Johnson of Oregon City; Pete Slocum of Beaverton; and Dave Rolf of Vancouver, Wash.
Candlelighters were Mary (Buhn) Alex of Seattle, Wash., and Roberta Berg of Hillsboro.
Ushers included Bart Jeppsen of Brownsville; Brian Banta of Corvallis; Robin Van Degutche of Anchorage, Alaska; and Kevin Monaghan of Hillsboro.
Ali Connell was junior bridesmaid. Flower girls were Kendra Connell and Shanya Graves. Ring bearer was Travis Rolf.
The bride’s dress was ivory, sleeveless, Italian silk satin with a French tulle and a semi-cathedral length train with a 15-foot handmade veil attached to a round beaded tiara.
Flowers were ivory roses with white twinkling lights strung throughout and bunched into a bouquet tied with a ribbon.
The bridesmaids each chose their own black floor-length formal dress.
Groomsmen wore Ivory dinner jackets, black pants and blue vests with Mandarin collars.
A reception was held at the same place with 200 guests and a DJ.
The bride and groom spent their honeymoon on an Alaska cruise and now reside in Hillsboro.
