Crash leaves Brownsville teen critically injured

REACH Air Ambulance transported a 16-year-old Brownsville girl to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield with life-threatening injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on June 2.

Angela Rushford was later transported to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.

Oregon State Police and Sweet Home paramedics responded to the crash, blocking both lanes of Highway 228 at McKercher Park, at about 9:57 p.m.

An eastbound Ford Taurus driven by Tanisha Anne McIntyre, 23, of Brownsville attempted to pass two vehicles and crashed into an oncoming vehicle, according to the summary of the police report.

McIntyre had four passengers, including Rushford and two other juveniles. The driver of the second vehicle, a Hyundai Veloster, was Shannon Marie Larsen, 43, of Sweet Home.

McIntyre and a second juvenile passenger in her vehicle were transported to Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

Larsen was transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

Doernbecher had Rushford listed in critical condition on Monday.

A senior state trooper responded from Springfield to reconstruct the crash, which remains under investigation.
