Two Crawfordsville Drive residents were arrested Wednesday, Dec. 5, during a kidnapping investigation, Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller announced last week.
Mueller said Sheriff’s detectives were conducting an investigation into a kidnapping that, he said, occurred on Dec. 4 in the Crawfordsville area.
Epica Joann Preuitt, 35, was reportedly assaulted, Mueller said. She sustained minor injuries and then was allowed to leave.
The incident stemmed from a dispute over illegal narcotics, Mueller said. Preuitt was acquainted with the suspects in the case, he said.
Preuitt mentioned the incident to a friend, who reported it to the Sheriff’s Office.
During the investigation, detectives searched a property at 38385 Crawfordsville Drive and arrested Terry Lee Anderson, 46, and Debra Sue Myers, 40, who were living in a trailer on the property.
Mueller said detectives found “user amounts of methamphetamine” and “a large amount of stolen property was also recovered from the residence and returned to its rightful owner.”
Anderson was arrested on an unrelated parole violation and is being held with no bail. Myers was charged with kidnap 1, assault 3, menacing and coercion with $50,000 bail. Both subjects were lodged in Linn County Jail.
On Thursday, Dec. 6, investigators arrested Faren Kay Tooze, 23, after deputies found her in a vehicle. Tooze was charged with kidnap 1, assault 2, and possession of methamphetamine and lodged in the Linn County Jail with $106,000 bail.
Additional persons are being sought for questioning in this case, Mueller said. The investigation is continuing.
