Curtis Gibb

Jan. 16, 1953 – Dec. 1, 2015

Curtis Ted Gibb, 62, of Sweet Home, died peacefully in his home on Dec. 1, 2015.

He was born Jan. 16, 1953 in Cascadia to Richard and Della (Cowitz) Gibb.

Through the years, Mr. Gibb thought of both Oregon and Alaska as home.

He attended college in Susanville, Calif., where he trained in powerhouse operations for a job in Alaska. In the 1990s, he became disabled from a mill accident. At that time, he returned to Sweet Home to farm, and manage rental properties.

Mr. Gibb married Karen Lee, the love of his life, in 2004. He enjoyed spending time with his step-children, step-grandchildren, and friends. From the time he was a young boy, he loved to hunt, fish, and explore the woods. He was a giant of a man with a generous spirit, with an optimistic outlook, and with a talent for storytelling. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Gibb believed in the Lord Jesus.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Lee; step-daughter Rhianon Lee; step-son Cody Davenport and his wife Haeli; four grandchildren; brother Michael Gibb and sister-in-law Connie; and sister Pat Watkins.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 16 at Cascadia Community Chapel, 360 Santiam Highway, Cascadia. A potluck will follow immediately afterwards.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
