Cut through haze to facts on drugs

Re: The Sweet Home debate on marijuana.

While there seems to be a lot of “smoke” and sparks over legalization of the use of marijuana for medical and recreational purposes, I wish to direct the reader’s attention to the following articles and Internet sites for the facts:

— “Drugs of Abuse, D.E.A.” – 2011 at http://www.dea.gov under “Prevention” and “Publications”;

— “The Dangers and Consequences of Marijuana Abuse, D.E.A. – 2012,” also a DEA publication;

— “Drugs, The Real Facts at http://www.drugs.health.gov.au/ under the “Order Free Resources” button; and

— http://www.justthinktwice.com, http://www.getsmartaboutdrugs.com and ww.ncpic.org.au.

It is not only the damage marijuana may do to your overall health and mental abilities, its use may lead to use of more powerful and destructive drugs.

And, not only do drugs damage the individual, they affect family members, friends, fellow workers, fellow students and society in general.

Let’s avoid emotional “knee-jerk” responses and check out the available information on marijuana and other harmful “on-the-street” drugs.
