Cutting oak tree happened too fast

I caught news that a very old tree at Hawthorne School was in danger of being cut down.

I was two days away from the Tree Commission of Sweet Home to make a call asking that the tree be spared.

Well, it was cut down soon after the article came out in The New Era, and we just didn’t make it in time to try and convince the planning committee to keep the tree.

I feel that there was no plan to save the tree on the Boys and Girls Club side or Hawthorne, or else it would still be there today. I have something to say about it, and that brings me to you.

Included is a picture of me in front of the tree for scale. The tree was cut down soon after I took that photo.
