Sweet Home Police Department named Cyndi Pichardo employee of the year for 2001.
Officer Pichardo has been with the department for three years. After spending about a year as a dispatcher, she was hired as a police officer.
“I was pretty surprised,” Officer Pichardo said. “It felt good knowing that it’s a peer-elected award.”
Officer Pichardo is the daughter of Nicky and Larry Newport of Lebanon, where she grew up.
