The Sweet Home dance/drill team placed third out of nine teams in the 3A small-team division at the Woodburn competition Feb. 25.
“We were very happy,” coach Kristin Ashcraft said of the Huskiettes’ performance. “They’re looking really good.”
The team will do daily-double practices over the next two weeks as it prepares for the state tournament on March 17-18 in Portland’s Memorial Coliseum, she said.
The team will perform Sunday, March 12, in an all-city show at West Albany High School, where it and other local squads will go through their state routines in an exhibition that is also a fund-raiser for the participants.
The Huskiettes will then perform at 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, in a home exhibition, which will also feature the junior high school squad, at the high school gymnasium. The Husky cheerleaders will perform the routine that won them third place in the state as well.
