The Huskiettes dance team unveiled part of their state routine at a competition in Stayton last Saturday, going up against just two other schools, Sherwood and Santiam.
Although they finished third, coach Traci Gagner said that she and assistant coach Amy Belveal were pleased, considering they have had just a couple of weeks to prepare this routine.
The judges liked the choreography and costumes, but the girls will need to clean up the routine by projecting and executing better.
The Huskies did have some drill down winners. Amy Belveal placed in the advanced division and Megan Day, Sam Pierce, and Alicia Nichol placed in the novice division. It was the second time this year that Belveal and Day qualified in this part of the competition.
The Huskiettes will be hosting a dance clinic this Saturday for kids from kindergarten through eighth grade. Registration begins at 8:30a.m. with the clinic starting at 9 a.m.
