Preparations for the 50th annual Shrine East-West football game were finalized in LaGrande July 13 when the committee ironed out the remaining details of the game.
The association is represented by 28 Shrine clubs throughout Oregon and composed of 18 committee heads and managers.
Approximately 150 high schools participate in this activity, producing 120 graduate seniors for the August game.
2002 SHHS graduate lineman Daniel Brewer will represent Sweet Home at the contest.
Each team will consist of a 30-man player squad and a 30-man alternate squad, each of which is comprised of 14 from the 3A schools, 12 from 2A schools and four from 1A schools.
Each team is represented by a queen and this year, Brittany Pryce, 16, LaGrande, will represent the East team. Representing the West team is Julia Quisenberry Graley, 17, of Klamath Falls. Both young ladies have been patients in the Portland Unit, Shrine Hospital.
In honor of support to the Shrine Hospitals of North America, an invitation to all past players, coaches and queens to attend this year’s game has been extended.
The game is slated for 7 p.m. August 10 at Baker City.
