Darold Eber Bolin, 87, died Dec. 12, 2020 at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in Eugene, following a battle with cancer.
He was born March 13, 1933 at the Eugene Hospital to Adella K. Bolin and Eber Bolin.
Mr. Bolin grew up in Sweet Home, where he worked for years at Western Auto. When it changed to NAPA, he went to work at the Sweet Home High School until he retired in 2000.
He married Martha Lucille Taylor in 1962.
Mr. Bolin enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working on the family property, farming, shearing sheep, and spending time with family and friends. He was involved in the Sweet Home Elks Lodge, and loved putting on the Friday night bingo games and helping with the Sunday morning breakfasts. He loved being a handyman, gardening, and enjoyed building things like bird houses, yard decorations, benches, or whatever inspired him at the time.
Mr. Bolin never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone in need. He loved helping others and helping his community. He was kind and always had a smile and a joke or funny story to tell, it brought him great joy to make people smile and laugh, making their day better. He worked hard, cared for, and loved his family with all of his heart. He truly cherished family, friends, and the Sweet Home community.
Mr. Bolin is survived by a daughter, Darcie R. (Bolin) Vanderyacht; son Dale Bolin; and one grandson; all of Sweet Home; and many relatives throughout Canada.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Normand, who died an hour after birth, on Dec. 3, 1929; his mother Adella in 1974; and his wife Martha in 2005.
Family, friends, and all who knew and loved Mr. Bolin are invited to a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Sweet Home Elks Lodge. Food and refreshments will follow. Attendees are invited to bring a favorite dish, if so desired, and possibly a story or two to share.
