Daryl Dwayne Davis, 80, of Sweet Home passed away December 17, 2023 at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield.

He was born June 7, 1943 to Thelma (Gill) and Marion Davis.

He grew up in Montana and Oregon. Most of his childhood was growing up in the Sweet Home area where he attended school, before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1960 and served until 1964. Daryl returned to Sweet Home where he had a long career as a logger and equipment operator. He attempted retirement six times between 2008 and 2019, when he officially retired.

Daryl starting volunteering with the Oregon Jamboree in the 1990s for crowd management. His last Oregon Jamboree was 2021. He enjoyed gold panning, fishing, and hunting. He was also an active member of the Sweet Home VFW until 2022. Daryl never met a stranger and will be missed by many.

Daryl is survived by his children Alain Espourteille, Jesse Garcia, Debbie Barker, Terry Ames, Debby (and Kim) Banta, Peggy Davis, Tim Ames, and Lisa (and James) Larson. Eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Daryl’s granddaughter Brie Davis was his constant companion the last year and a half. He is also survived by his great-nephew Matt Jordan who he shared many adventures with, and his sisters Barbara (and Don) Pierce, Lynell (and Robert) Weber.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Thelma, brothers Butch and Marvin, sisters Janet and Debbie, and his wife Bobbie.

Celebration of life will be from 1pm to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 10th, at the Sweet Home Senior Center, 890 18th Avenue.
