David Lee Cowger, 51, of Sweet Home died June 1, 2011.
He was born March 29, 1960 in Hawthorne, Calif. to Jon and Gloria Cowger.
Mr. Cowger joined the military in 1982 in Grants Pass. He was a medical specialist and later served as a medic for the National Guard. He was a veteran of both Gulf War conflicts, serving in the Army in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He received several achievement awards as well as several honorary medals.
His family moved to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1962 and he lived there most of his life. He lived in California from 1984 until 2007, when he moved to Sweet Home and has lived here ever since.
He was Christian. He collected miniature toys and hats. He loved NASCAR.
Mr. Cowger is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jodi Smoyer-Cowger of Sweet Home; daughters Krystal Lee Cowger of Newport; Kalynn Lee Cowger of Sweet Home; step-son Corey Brandon Buescher of Hesperia, Calif.; one grandson; three step-grandsons; mother Gloria Cowger of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister Carol Larkin of Michigan; a niece and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Claude Cowger, on March 22, 2011.
A memorial service is planned at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Community Chapel at Ames Creek. The family would like to thank everyone for the memorial contributions that have been made for his memorial and to help support the family.
