Dean Kyle

July 31, 1928 – Feb. 4, 2013

Dean W. Kyle, 84, died at home in Sweet Home Feb. 4, 2013 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

He was born July 31, 1928 in Geneva, Wis. to Willard and Dorothy (Anderson) Kyle.

He lived in Wisconsin and Oregon. He practiced developmental optometry in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, Cottage Grove, Sweet Home and Brownsville.

Dr. Kyle married his first wife, Mary Ann, in 1954 and together they raised three daughters and enjoyed many aspects of life in the communities in which they lived.

He was an active part of the Sweet Home community for many years, involved with Sweet Home Evangelical Church, Lions Club, Kiwanis, and other community organizations. His main passion in life was to travel with a trailer of some kind in tow. He enjoyed his association and adventures with the Wally Byam Caravan Club International Airstream RV Owners Association.

He was also an avid Green Bay Packers and University of Oregon football fan and enjoyed photography, bow hunting, model railroading and a host of other interests.

In 2006 Dr. Kyle married Pearl Adams of Shawano, Wis. and enjoyed his travels with her.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly and son-in-law Chuck Messick of Sweet Home, Kirsten and son-in-law George Offutt of Sweet Home, and Deanna and son-in-law Ron Emmert of Corvallis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann, in 2003.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sweet Home Evangelical Church or Sweet Home Emergency Ministries.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
