Dear Editor,
Oh the irony. A former appointed Mayor in opposition to the people being able to have a voice in the election of their Mayor. Seems like a scheme to keep the “good ol boys” with the upper hand in local governance. As a citizen of the United States, born and raised in Sweet Home and a current resident, I am strongly in favor of letting the people of this community have a voice…finally. At the well attended candidate forum at the Sweet Home high school; I heard all of the three newly elected city council members state that they were in favor of having the Mayor elected. There was a response of thunderous applause. I also watched the special work session this last Tuesday and was disappointed to hear two of the three reject the opportunity for the Mayor election vote to be put on the May ballot. Someone is lying. Enough already !
