Defense deserts Huskies as they fall 12-1 to Sisters

The Huskies’ defense broke down Monday afternoon, as they committed nine errors and helped the Sisters Outlaws dominate the baseball diamond and hand Sweet Home a 12-1 loss.

Sisters scored seven runs in the first two innings. The Huskies were able to bring Cole Ashcraft home in the third to score their only run.

Sisters scored another run in the fifth and two each in the sixth and seventh innings.

Four Huskies singled, including Austin Rice, Brandon Keenon, Ashcraft and J.T. Weld. Brett Blachly scored Ashcraft.

On the mound, Dylan Elder recorded the loss, pitching the first two innings. He gave up four hits, three walks and seven runs, two of them earned. He struck out six Outlaws.

Keenon pitched three innings, striking out four, while walking four and giving up a hit and three unearned runs.

Devin Stafford pitched an inning, giving up a hit, a walk and an earned run, while striking out two.

D.J. Bidwell pitched an inning, striking out two.

Kevin Seiber pitched a partial inning, giving up a walk and a homerun.

Elmira 6, Sweet Home 4

The Falcons defeated the Huskies 6-4 in Sweet Home on April 22.

Elmira opened the game scoring three runs in the first inning. The Falcons added another three runs in the fifth inning.

The Huskies got things going at the plate in the sixth inning, scoring three runs and then another in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to get past Elmira.

At the plate, Blachly and Seiber each went 2-4, Seiber with an RBI.

Also hitting were Justin Tow, Keenon and Colyn Van Eck. Tow had an RBI. Rice, Blachly, Keenon and Weld scored runs.

Aschcraft pitched six innings, giving up five hits, six walks and six runs, three unearned. He struck out seven batters. Keenon pitched in relief, striking out two batters.
