Dennis Matthew Meyer, age 84, died at Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, Oregon on December 6, 2012.
He was born July 5, 1928, in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. He served his country in World War II as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne and the Reserves in the 82nd Airborne. After his discharge he worked as a logger, police officer, appliance repairman and a mill supervisor. He retired in 1992.
He married Elvia E. E. VanDuyn on September 4, 1948 in Lebanon, Oregon and later moved to Sweet Home, Oregon where he lived until moving to Grants Pass, Oregon in 2008.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his three children, Tamra Johnson (Gary), Eugene, Oregon, Steve Meyer, Sweet Home, Oregon and Tanya Guzman (Ronald), Grants Pass, Oregon, grandchildren Shana Johnson, Taira Walker, Nick Meyer, Todd Meyer and Jonathan Guzman, all of Eugene, Oregon, and two great grandchildren, Chase McCord and Cade Walker. Dennis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elvia.
He was loved and he loved well. He will forever be remembered.
A Celebration of Life and spreading of his ashes will be held in the spring.
