For The New Era
The Oregon Department of Education passed out their annual assessment results this past week. The results were generally positive for the Sweet Home School District. Reading scores were generally above state averages and the math and writing scores are moving towards the state average.
This year’s results did include some very noteworthy information. Students who exceeded the state standards in two of the three areas tested (these included reading, writing and math, science and social studies) were identified. The district wishes to recognize these students and to congratulate them on their outstanding accomplishment. The list of these students includes the following:

Also included in this year’s information were the names of students who received perfect scores on their assessments. The district feels these students really deserve special recognition.
We therefore honor the following for perfect scores in Reading: Lily Barton from Crawfordsville; Talon Binks, Matthew Davis and Tyler Plebuch from Oak Heights; Hannah Burge from Hawthorne and Hiram Jones from the Charter School.
From the Junior High Rachel Terry earned a perfect reading score.
Perfect math scores were earned by the following: Nicholas Richard from Foster and Sierra Lambert from Hawthorne. From the junior high, perfect scores in math were earned by Jerohn Coleman, Taylor Conn, Hailey Rice, Annie Whitfield, Karen Zhen, Jessica Blankenship, Michelle Smith, Brandon Smith and Alex Howard. The high school had two students earn perfect scores, Andrew Winslow and Kieran Schaeffer.
