The search for a missing Sweet Home man has intensified in the Marcola area after searchers found one of the two dogs that had accompanied Daniel Oberg when he disappeared, his father Kenneth said Thursday, May 4.
Daniel Oberg, 28, was last seen locally on Sunday, April 23, at Safeway in the company of at least one other man.
Oberg’s car was found stuck in the mud on a hillside off Marcola Road, near milepost 13, a few days later.
A puppy that was with Oberg was found Wednesday, May 3, at a farmer’s house near milepost 12 on Marcola Road, Kenneth Oberg said. He said the farmer told searchers, who stopped by to ask about Daniel Oberg, that the puppy, Cody, and a white dog, which matched the description of its mother, Misa, who was also with Oberg, showed up at his house two days before. He was able to catch the puppy, but the older dog took off up the mountain, he said.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who has seen Daniel Oberg to call (541) 682-4141.
