Dolores Schuller

April 10, 1922 – Sept. 20, 2012

Dolores “Patty” Patricia Schuller, 90, of Sweet Home died Sept. 20, 2012.

She was born April 10, 1922 in Walla Walla, Wash. to Lester and Lilah (Smith) Fender. Her sister, Donna, was two years younger.

When she was 4 years old, her family moved to Chula Vista, Calif. where her parents owned a service station.

She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1939. While she was taking classes at San Diego State she met a dashing gentleman, 10 years her senior, who swept her off her feet and changed her plans of becoming a kindergarten teacher. She became Mrs. Dick Schuller in 1940.

They welcomed daughter Leslie Ann in 1943 and son Richard John in 1947.

In 1949, The Schullers heard the gospel and made their choice to serve the Lord. They hosted Sunday worship services in their home for over 30 years.

After Mr. Schuller died in 2002, Mrs. Schuller stayed in their home for another five years before moving to Oregon in 2007. She loved her smaller house and loved helping those less able than her. In 2010 she moved to Wiley Creek and was adored by residents and staff.

Mrs. Schuller is survived by her daughter, Leslie, and son-in-law Sherman Weld of Sweet Home; son Rick of Oceanside, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and numerous others who counted her a dear friend, both in California and Oregon.

Funeral services were held Sept. 22, with final burial at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, Calif.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
