Dona Ispas-Smith

Dona Lee Ispas-Smith, 81, of Sweet Home, died July 29, 2014.

She was born March 18, 1933 in Lone Star, Kan. to Levi Clarence and Marie Della (Sims) Mowder. She grew up in Kansas before heading west to Los Angeles.

In 1973 she moved to Enumclaw, Wash. for three years before moving to Sweet Home in 1976 where she lived the rest of her life. She was a homemaker and owned a helmet business and a motel with her husband Alex Ispas. Dona enjoyed sewing, home interior crafts, creating charcoal drawings and sculptures, and shopping.

She is survived by her children, Michael Mowder of Sweet Home, Kenneth Mowder of New Plymouth, Idaho, Deborah Maloney of Sweet Home, David Ispas of Corvallis, Alesa Ispas of New Plymouth, Tom Smith, Dixie Clark, Harland Smith, Dennis Smith and Kelly Smith, all of Sweet Home, and Patricia Eder of Mt. Angel; ex-husband Ralph Mowder; siblings Levi Mowder, Mary Gross and Clyde Mowder; 36 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

Dona was preceded in death by her spouses, Alex Ispas (July 17, 2003) and Kirkley Blair Smith (May 10, 2014); children James Mowder (Aug. 28, 1958) and Kirk Smith (March 22, 2011); siblings Laverna Milacek, Aldeene Thomson, Jennie Parris and Charles Mowder; and parents Levi and Marie Mowder,

Viewing will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
