Donald Leroy Blodgett

Donald Leroy Blodgett, 79, of Sweet Home, passed away Jan. 31, 2025.

He was born Oct. 24, 1945, to Francis Layafette and Bertha Ardella (Terry) Blodgett in Remus, Mich.

He was born and raised in Michigan through his early adulthood, then moved to Sweet Home in the late 1970s. Donald proudly served his country from 1964 to 1968 in the Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic during the Vietnam War.

Donald was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Elks. He worked for Jeld-Wen for more than a decade. He loved to fly and work on planes.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Christine and her husband Charles Smith, and Wendy and her husband Mark Messer, all of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters: Kathy and her husband Larry Sopscak of Gladstone, Mich., and Alice of Marana, Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Layafette Blodgett (1981), mother Bertha Ardella Blodgett (2003); sisters Janet Marie Blodgett (2003) and Helen P. Root (2017); and brother Terry Francis Blodgett (2004).

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
