Donna M. Johnston, 88, of Sweet Home died June 6. 2009.
She was born June 24, 1920 in Emmett, Idaho to Frank and Katie (Newnham) Cole.
Her family moved to the Dixie, Idaho, area when she was young. She married Leo N. Keech in 1939 and they had one child together. Leo later passed away.
On July 6, 1954 she married Russell Johnston in Boise, Idaho. They moved to Homedale, Idaho to work and raise a family. They lived in Homedale until their retirement in 1975, when they then moved to Sweet Home.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was quite active with Meals on Wheels in Sweet Home, volunteering for 27 years. She loved quilting, flower gardening and games.
She is survived by a son James of Canyon City; daughter Joleen Mahler of Sweet Home; four grandchildren and two great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Glen Johnston in 2008, two brothers and two sisters.
A viewing is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Gilliland Cemetery.
