Edmond Burke once said: “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” Under the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, we are guaranteed the right to freedom of speech, press, religion and petition.
There is a petition that you can sign if you want to discontinue paying for tax -funded abortions. This in no way prohibits you from getting an abortion as it only gives the tax payers the right to say, “No, I don’t want my tax dollars to pay for your personal decision to kill your unborn child.”
No one is forced into having an abortion; yet those of us who do not believe in abortion are forced to fund it anyway.
A discussion came up involving the petition and some questioned if it is proper for a business to post this petition where people can see it. I say, as a conservative and supporter of all our constitutional rights, by all means post it. I think it is very important to be able to exercise our constitutional rights.
A liberal will say, “No don’t post it. You will only be hurting your business by offending a good number of people. Think of your employees, think of how much money you will lose if all those who are offended refuse to patronize your business. I’m not trying to tell you how to run your business; I’m looking out for your best interest and, since this is such a controversial thing, do you really need this type of controversy in your place of business? Besides if you post one you have to post them all, is that really what you want to do?
The fact is, they are not looking out after your interest, they are looking out for them self and their agenda. The fewer petitions that are available to the public the fewer signatures it will garner, if there is not enough signatures to get the measure on the ballot in November, battle over. Then the liberal press can proudly say, “Look, no one cares if their tax dollars pay for abortion.”
This type of intimidation is very effective and the liberals do it very well.
Please do not be intimidated into giving up your constitutional right to petition. We lose so many privileges every day because some one claims to be offended. Do not let this be one of them.
