Dorothy Irene Libby, 81, of Keizer, formerly of Sweet Home, passed away in Salem.
She was born in Albany to Wilbur Frances and Mary Victoria (Wilkinson) Grove.
Dorothy was born in Albany, grew up in Lebanon, and graduated from Lebanon Union High School in 1951. She graduated with a diploma in Bible and an ETTA Teacher’s Diploma from Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, in June 1954.
Dorothy lived in Sweet Home from October 1970 to June 1981. She was a resident of the Salem/Keizer area since 2003.
Dorothy was a homemaker and pastor’s wife. She served in various churches throughout the Willamette Valley, including: Faith Baptist Church in Wilsonville; Elm Street Baptist in Sweet Home; and Immanuel Baptist in Salem.
Dorothy actively served in several of the churches, teaching Sunday School, training teachers, directing the choir, leading Bible studies, ministering to women, and sharing hospitality.
She is survived by four children, along with three of their spouses: Douglas and Jeannie Libby of Jefferson, Dawnita Libby of Keizer, Philip and Sherri Libby of Winchester, Va., and Jill and Ryan Schiewe of Silverton; brother: Harold Grove; two sisters: Mildred Johnson and Joy Robertson; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Pastor Howard R. Libby.
A graveside service was held Nov. 11 at Powell Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Elm Street Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy’s name to Mount Angel Bible Church.
