Dorothy Lydia Schwarz, 96, of Sweet Home passed away March 5, 2018.
She was born Oct. 26, 1921 in Buhl, Idaho, to Jens and Hulda (Kluender) Lassen.
She attended school in the Clover and Filer, Idaho area.
She moved to Portland where she met and married Lawrence Schwarz on Oct. 26, 1944. They lived in Portland, San Francisco, Calif., Nyssa, and then finally settled in Sweet Home in 1960.
Dorothy was a charter member of Christ Community Lutheran Church in Lebanon. She was a homemaker most of her life but worked for a couple of years at Tracewell Funeral Home.
For many years she crocheted baby sweaters for church missions, several times as many as 100 sweaters a year.
Dorothy is survived by daughter Jolee Stafford (Phill) of Sweet Home; sister Elaine Orthel (John) of Filer, Idaho; grandchildren Bradley and Jaime Schwarz of Beaverton, Shane Stafford of Albany, and Steven Stafford of Sweet Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Schwarz; son James Schwarz; brothers Norbert, Vernon and Raymond Lassen; and sister Lucille Latta.
A memorial service was held March 12 at Christ Community Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
