Duane Bate, 66, of Sweet Home, died May 30, 2022, in Roseburg.
He was born Nov. 13, 1955 in Lebanon to Barb and Ken Bate.
Mr. Bate was a consummate outdoors man, who enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, climbing and biking.
Anything and everything about nature was an interest to him and he used photography to bring the beauty of nature inside with him.
One of his favorite things to do was to sit by the water with his dog and enjoy the life around him. His love of dogs meant that he always had a friend with him on his adventures.
Mr. Bate was a jack of many trades, including mechanic, logger, gardener and degreed metallurgist. While living in Alaska, a perfect environment for his outdoor hobbies, he learned to grow heavenly produce.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Nichol and Brandi; five grandchildren; and siblings Dale and Sandy.
A potluck dinner/celebration of life was held June 26 at the VFW Hall in Sweet Home.
