The Linn County Alcohol & Drug Program has expanded its DUII (Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants) Education Program to provide more convenient class options for community members at two locations in Linn County.
DUII education classes help participants understand the risks and consequences of impaired driving, recognize how alcohol and other drugs affect decision-making and develop strategies to make safer choices in the future. These eight-week classes are often required as part of a court sentence or diversion program following a DUII arrest.
The Linn County Alcohol & Drug DUII Education Program meets Oregon requirements while providing participants with information, resources, and support to help prevent future impaired driving.
“DUII education gives people the opportunity to pause, reflect, and understand how their choices affect themselves, their families, and their communities,” said Steve Bingenheimer, Adult Services Supervisor at Linn County Alcohol & Drug. “The goal isn’t just to teach the laws—it’s to help people make safer decisions and prevent impaired driving from happening again.”
New class times are available at both the Albany and Lebanon locations:
Lebanon Location
- Mondays, 1:30–3 p.m.
- Tuesdays, 5:30–7 p.m.
Albany Location
- Mondays, 9–10:30 a.m.
- Wednesdays, 5:30–7 p.m.
The Oregon Health Plan and some private insurance plans may cover the cost of DUII education classes. Participants also work with their counselor to determine whether additional groups or services may help them meet their treatment goals.
Research shows that DUII education can have a positive impact, and outcomes are often strongest when education is combined with substance use assessment and treatment when needed. This approach addresses both impaired driving behaviors and any underlying substance use concerns, helping individuals make lasting changes and reducing the risk of repeat DUII offenses.
