Eagle Scout project leads to improved Booster trailer

The roof leaked on the Husky Booster Club concession stand, even with a tarp on it.

So, Keegan Burnett decided his Eagle Scout project was going to be putting a set of new skins on the trailer and giving it a new coat of paint.

Two weeks work in the evenings paid off handsomely for both Burnett, from whom the work served as his Eagle Scout project, and SHHS athletes who benefit from the funds raised by volunteers staffing it.

“I tore off the old roof, put on new metal and repainted the trailer inside and out,” Burnett said. “Bill Langdon donated the metal, Jim Philpott at Lester Sales donated the plywood and 2 X 4s and the School District donated the paint.”

Burnett said he has enjoyed Scouting since joining the Cub Scouts in the fourth grade.

“I like camping the best,” Burnett said. “I love being outside. It’s fun to be out by yourself.”

Ben Dahlenburg and Bob Snyder were Burnett’s scoutmasters.

Burnett graduated from SHHS in June and is now enrolled at Linn-Benton Community College. He is taking advantage of the dual enrollment program and will transfer fulltime to OSU to complete his degree in chemical engineering.

Burnett said he has always been interested in engineering and leaned toward chemical engineering after taking a chemistry class at SHHS.

In addition to earning a 3.48 GPA, Burnett was active in sports including pole vaulting where he hit 13′. He’s currently competes in college open meets as a vaulter and is an assistant coach for the South Albany high school team.

Burnett is the son of Rick and Alice Burnett of Sweet Home.
