A gas explosion blew out the end of a mobile home east of Cascadia Park early Wednesday morning, Jan. 6.
Sweet Home firefighters and a Sheriff’s deputy responded to the blast at 47620 Cascadia Drive after receiving a report of the incident at 6:14 a.m.
According to Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Administrative Assistant Julie Mayfield, no one was treated for injuries although one resident had “singed hair.”
Mayfield said a SHFAD report stated that two people occupied the single-wide mobile home, but only one, Edward Beattie, was named in the fire report.
According to the report, occupants of the trailer woke up to the hissing of a propane leak.
Mayfield said investigators found the residents vague on the particulars of how the explosion ignited.
“There was no fire,” she said. “The wall and windows were blown out. It was like a flash burn explosion.”
Property damage was estimated at $3,000, according to the report.
Sheriff’s Lt. Michelle Duncan said the cause was deemed “not suspicious.” She and Mayfield said no one required medical treatment.
