Edwin LeRoy Kirk, 61, of Sweet Home died April 14, 2015.
He was born Jan. 4, 1954 in Clarkston, Wash. to Clyde LeRoy and Betty Marie (Marshall) Kirk, one of five children – three boys and two girls.
He lived in various places throughout the Northwest: Enterprise; LaGrande; Council, Idaho; Yakutat, Alaska; and Baker City; and moved to Sweet Home in 1977.
Mr. Kirk worked in the logging industry from 1966 through 1997, when he went to work for the Sweet Home School District as a custodian. He worked part time at the Sweet Home High School until 2001, when he was hired full-time at Foster
Elementary school as head custodian, working there for 14 years.
He had a love for fishing, raising horses and especially loved floating and fishing the Santiam and Umpqua rivers. He enjoyed his many animals and was an exceptional gardener and canner.
Mr. Kirk is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Lou (Richardson) Kirk of Sweet Home; mother Betty Marie Kirk, of Helena, Mont.; sister Wanda Kirk, also of Helena; sister Linda and brother-in-law Guy Wilson of Williston, N.D.; brother Bob and sister-in-law Robin Kirk of Raleigh, N.C.; sister-in-law Peggy Stafford of Reno, Nev.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his large extended family of friends and co-workers, whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life potluck was held April 18 at Foster Elementary Cafeteria.
