Eldon L. Clayton, 77, of Sweet Home died Jan. 19, 2008. He was born April 11, 1930 in Trent to Loyd Earl and Edna Clayton.
Mr. Clayton went to grade school in LaComb, Salt Lake and then later in Lebanon. He moved to West Scio and went to work in a sawmill. In 1949 he married Donna Magarrell in Scio. They lived in Shelburn, where they built a house. They had a son, Ramon, and moved to Blodgett in 1960 where he logged with his father. In 1969 they had another son, Brett. Mr. Clayton was then driving his own log truck.
The Claytons divorced after 54 years in 2003. Mr. Clayton moved to Tangent and then later to Sweet Home, where he lived until his death.
He was a past Grand at Scio Oddfellows Lodge. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and riding snow mobiles and driving antique cars.
Mr. Clayton is survived by his son, Brett Clayton of Sweet Home; brother, Ronald Clayton of Lebanon; one sister, Joyce Spencer of Grants Pass; and an aunt and uncle, Jessie and Glenn Clayton.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ramon Loyd in 1963.
