Eleanor Irene Moore, 95, died with family at her side at Twin Oaks in Sweet Home on July 8, 2007.
She was born Jan. 15, 1912 and raised on the family farm in Berthold, N.D. She was the 4th of 12 children born to Harry and Jane (Owens) Arnold. After graduating from high school, she moved to Minot, N.D. for work. She married James Willard Moore on Oct. 24, 1934. They moved to Oregon in 1940 to be near family and to raise their three daughters. Mr. Moore died in 1976. Mrs. Moore married Jack Turner in 1982; he died in 1987.
Her interests were flowers and gardening. She was proud of and dearly loved her grandchildren and spending time with family. Her passion was painting pictures of flowers and landscapes. She won many ribbons from art shows and loved giving her paintings to all of her family and friends. She was a member of the Sweet Home Church of Christ at 18th and Long Street since 1949.
Mrs. Moore worked at Groves Rexall Drugs. She was a long-time member of the Art Society and Home Extension.
Surviving are daughters Janet Holcomb and husband Roy of Foster, Pat Brooks and husband Wes of Albany; eight grandchildren; as well as 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Sheridan Arnold of Sweet Home and brothers Charles, William and Ken Arnold of California and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Newton; sisters Oni Cook and Betty Davidson; and brothers Willard, Harry, Alfred, Aden and Dewey Arnold.
Memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Hospice or the charity of your choice, in care of Sweet Home Funeral Chapel, 1443 Long Street Sweet Home, OR 97386. Memories can be sent to [email protected]. Services will be held July 28 at the Church of Christ, 18th and Long St., beginning with a noon lunch. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Private burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
